eSignature DocuSign User Manual – Updated Edition Now Available

The eSignature DocuSign User Manual has been updated to cover the latest release of the extension. It explains how to send Business Central documents for electronic signature through DocuSign, track them, and configure the integration, all without leaving Business Central.

What's new in this edition

Standard and Premium editions. A new section explains the two editions and which features each includes. Your edition is shown in the License Status field on the DocuSign Administration page, for example Active - Standard or Active - Premium (Templates included). After an upgrade, select Refresh License Status and the change applies immediately. If a license moves back to Standard, your Template setup is kept and becomes available again after upgrading.

More recipient types. In addition to Signer, Carbon Copy and Agent, you can now add Certified Delivery, Editor and Intermediary recipients. The manual explains how each one is placed in the routing order.

The Envelope Wizard is now used for every envelope. Creating an envelope always opens the guided, step-by-step wizard, for both standard report envelopes and Template envelopes. There is no longer a separate setting to turn it on.

Signed documents filed automatically. Once an envelope is completed, each signed document is added to the source document's Attachments FactBox, along with DocuSign's Certificate of Completion by default. The certificate can be excluded with the new Save Summary Attachment option under Conditions. A new Completed At field shows exactly when an envelope reached its status.

Voiding, reminding and correcting recipients. New sections describe how to void a sent envelope with a reason, and how to resend a reminder to a recipient or correct their name or email before resending.

Two-way field mapping for Templates (Premium). A new section explains how Tab Mappings, Sender Field Mappings and the new Custom Field Mappings can write values returned by DocuSign back into Business Central fields when an envelope completes. It also covers the Leave for Signer option on Tab Mappings, safeguards that limit mappings to tables used by the template's assigned document types, and the known limitation that Sender Field write-back should be treated as one-way.

Confidential Templates (Premium). Mark a DocuSign Template as Confidential to restrict who can open the envelopes and signed documents it produces. The manual explains the DocuSign Admin (Confidential), DocuSign User (Confidential) and DocuSign User (Restricted) permission sets, and how access works across companies, for SUPER users, and with Microsoft Entra security groups.

Template setup improvements. Sync Roles can now be run directly from the DocuSign Templates page, Doc Type Template Setup shows each template's name and description, and new guidance explains why it's best to keep a template dedicated to one document type.

Notifications and troubleshooting. Missing Notification Setup rows are now created automatically when an administrator opens the page. The troubleshooting sections cover new license and edition messages.
